YIANNI "JOHNNY" BACOLAS

Name a musical style, and Johnny Bacolas has had experience playing, writing, or recording it.  Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Bacolas is a well-respected producer, composer, musician, and videographer - proficient at bass guitar, guitar, electronica programming, and the Greek bouzouki (which is a reflection of his Greek heritage).  “Formatically, I don’t have a specific style,” explains Bacolas.  “I am experienced with heavy rock, alternative rock, electronica, house, trance, and hot AC.  I like music with strong melodic and pop sensibilities.  The music must make you ‘have a feeling’ of some kind, whether to inspire, to motivate, to mourn, to excite, to think, etc.  Like any good art, it must create a feeling within the listener.  That’s my objective as a producer, songwriter, videographer, and musician – to create a feeling.”

And it turns out that for Bacolas, music has been a life-long obsession.  “My roots in music are really all over the place.  When I was about 5 years old, I was drawn to the melodies of Elton John, The Bee Gees, and The Beatles.  When I was 12, I got my first Kiss record (Kiss’ ‘Alive II’), and I realized THAT’S what I wanted to do.  I started playing in my first rock band (Alice 'N Chains) at around the age of 13-14.  Layne Staley was my first ‘real’ singer.  Later on, my rock band, Second Coming, went on to sign to Capitol Records.
